Editorials

Aegerten, September 1998

The contents of this newsletter is dedicated to the presentation of the new developments and enhancements which are included in the upcoming EMME/2 Release 9, which was officially announced at the 7th European EMME/2 Users Conference in London in June.

The most important new development introduced in Release 9, at least from the modeling point of view, is certainly the new Deterministic Transit Assignment. As it was already described in detail in the last issue of EMME/2 News (No.19, October 1997), it will only be discussed briefly here. But as you will find out reading through this newsletter, there are a lot of other new and exciting features in this new release, which --even if they are not as far reaching from a modeling point of view-- will be of great interest to most users.

Once again, many of the improvements you will read about on the following pages originate directly from suggestions made by EMME/2 users, either during one of the many official or private discussions at the various EMME/2 courses, meetings and conferences, or communicated to us via phone, fax or electronic mail. A big ``THANK YOU!'' to all who have contributed in this way to the contents of this release!

Montreal, September 1998

Since the beginning of this year much effort was dedicated to the testing and documentation of the new developments that are included in Release 9 of EMME/2, as well as to the final developments that are included in this release. Its contents, which were first announced at the 7th. European EMME/2 Conference that took place in London this past June, are described in detail in this issue.

The sending out of a new release is the culmination of the efforts of all the individuals that are involved in development, testing, documentation, packaging and final delivery. We are glad to see its realization and we hope that you will find the new features of this release useful in your work.
