INRO Announcements

As many of you may know, Barton-Aschman Associates Inc. was the first company that sought to have distribution rights for EMME/2. Since they became Distributor for the U.S.A. the association with EMME/2 was mutually beneficial. Other than introducing EMME/2 to many users in the U.S.A. Barton Aschman also carried out projects with EMME/2 in Saudi Arabia, South Korea and the P.R. of China.

As of June of this year we are most pleased to announce that the responsibility for the marketing activities of EMME/2 at Barton Aschman have been assigned to Bill Davidson at the San Jose office of the company. In addition to heading the systems planning activities Bill and his team, including Rick Donnelly, have acquired in depth knowledge of the EMME/2 package and have succeeded in conveying its merits and advantages to a wide variety of organizations. In addition, Barton Aschman will also market the STAN package for the strategic planning of freight flows at the national or regional level.

INRO has appointed new agents in Spain, Germany and Malaysia. These companies are Urban Systems Management, SNV and Perunding Atur respectively. Their full addresses are listed on the back cover of this issue. In the very near future we will appoint Agents for Australia and New Zealand where the EMME/2 package is being increasingly used by various organizations.

The increased workload at INRO has resulted in the hiring of several new team members. Michel Lebel, B.Sc. in Computer Science, is working in the Technical Support section as is Serge Gauthier who has a college level degree in Computer Science. Ms. Christine Gedeon, M.Sc. in Operations Research and Computer Science has been assigned to further development and support of the STAN software package. Anne Lacaille is our new receptionist and you are most likely to talk to her first when you call INRO. She has already relieved Mrs. Madeleine Achard of some secretarial duties so she can concentrate on administrative matters. Mr. Teodor G. Crainic, Ph.D, continues his association with INRO in development, training and consulting projects related to STAN.
